OUR CENTER

The Congenital Heart Center at the University of Florida is a nationally and internationally recognized center of excellence for providing state of the art care to pediatric and adult patients with congenital heart disease. The nationally recognized faculty and staff practice in two modern state of the art facilities at Shands Children’s Hospital in Gainesville and Wolfson Children’s Hospital in Jacksonville.

This care is provided in an environment that recognizes the important role of parents and families in helping young patients cope with heart problems. The clinical programs at the University of Florida are supported by a broad range of clinical and basic science research programs at the University of Florida.

Faculty expertise is available in all areas of subspecialty pediatric cardiology and cardiovascular surgery including interventional and diagnostic cardiac catheterization, invasive electrophysiology, echocardiography, valve repair/replacement and heart transplantation. In addition, faculty see patients in outpatient centers at the Medical Plaza located on the University of Florida campus in Gainesville and at the San Marco Cardiovascular Center in Jacksonville, Florida.

The primary geographical referral areas of the University of Florida extends from Southern Georgia to Orlando,the Florida Panhandle/Pensacola east to Jacksonville, and the Space Coast south to Melbourne and West Palm Beach.
